Social Media Week is wext week, from February 13 through the 17th.
SMW is one of the world’s most unique global platforms, offering a series of interconnected activities and conversations on emerging trends in social and mobile media.
SMW is a unique opportunity to attend events and participate in programming curated by experts in various digital, media, technology and related industries.
This year, SMW will occur simultaneously in 21 cities around the world, including New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto, Vancouver, Sao Paulo, Rio De Janeiro, Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Istanbul, London, Paris, Rome, Milan, Glasgow, Berlin, Moscow, Beirut and Hong Kong.
Starting this year, SMW is adding Tokyo, Singapore, DC and Miami.
With most of the events being free of charge (in most cities), it’s a great chance to interact with other thought leaders and build contacts, without having your pockets gouged.
Two things that I appreciate about Social Media Week are it’s comprehensive website and the Social Media Week mobile app.
The app allows you to build your schedule from the various events, register for events, follow the livestream and connect to social news content directly from your iPhone or iPad.
I’ve already started to favorite several events that I’m planning on attending in New York, including Global Social Media Listening, Social Syndication in 2012: Experiences First, Networks Second, and Consumer Engagement and Online Community in Social Media.
If you’ve never participated in SMW, I strongly suggest you do so.
It’s a great way to interact with like-minded folks in the space, and to stay up on the latest and greatest trends in social media, mobile, digital and technology.
But if you can’t attend, don’t worry, I’ll definitely keep you posted!
